This Privacy Policy describes how Magic Edit ("the App", "We", "Us" or "Our"), an iOS app made by Jake Mor, collects, uses and shares Your information when You use the App, and tells You about Your privacy rights.
By using the App, You agree to the collection and use of information in accordance with this Privacy Policy.
The words of which the initial letter is capitalized have the meanings defined below.
Magic Edit does not require an account, and We do not ask for Your name, email address, phone number, location or contacts.
Usage Data is collected automatically when You use the App. It may include Your Device type, operating system version, IP address, an anonymous app user ID, and events in the App such as starting an edit, viewing a paywall, starting a trial or making a purchase.
If You allow tracking when the App asks, Your Device's advertising identifier is shared with Meta to measure the effectiveness of Our advertising. If You do not allow tracking, the advertising identifier is not collected. You can change this at any time in Your Device settings.
While using the App, in order to provide its features, We may access, with Your prior permission:
We use this information only to provide features of the App. Photos You choose to edit are uploaded to Our servers and Service Providers as described in "Photos, Faces and AI Editing (Magic Edit)" below. Your original and edited photos are stored on Your Device.
You can enable or disable access to this information at any time, through Your Device settings.
Magic Edit is an AI photo editor. This section explains how Magic Edit handles the photos you choose to edit, including photos that show people's faces.
No face data or biometrics. Magic Edit does not collect face data. It does not use Face ID, the TrueDepth camera or face tracking. It does not detect faces, measure facial features, or create face geometry, facial landmarks, face templates or any other biometric identifier. Magic Edit does not identify or recognize people.
What we process. When you ask Magic Edit to edit a photo, the photo you selected, any reference images you attach and your text request are sent over an encrypted connection to our servers so the edit can be made. Your photos may contain faces. We process them only as ordinary images to make the edit you asked for.
How we use it. We use your photos only to make the edit you request and to suggest edits for that photo. We do not use your photos for advertising or profiling, to identify anyone, or to train AI models.
Who we share it with. To make the edit, your photo is processed by these service providers on our behalf: Cloudflare (hosting and temporary storage), OpenRouter (which routes requests to AI models), Google (Gemini image models), and the AI model provider that generates edit suggestions through OpenRouter. They process your photos only to return results to us. We do not sell your photos or share them with advertisers or data brokers.
How long we keep it. The photo you upload is deleted from our servers when the edit is finished. The edited image is kept on our servers for up to 7 days so the app can download it, then deleted automatically. Our AI providers may keep request data for a limited time under their own terms. For example, Google keeps Gemini API logs for up to 55 days, only to detect abuse. Your original and edited photos stay on your device until you delete them in the app or delete the app.
Deleting your photos. You can delete any edit in the app. To ask us to delete photos held on our servers, contact us at jakemny@gmail.com.
If You use voice dictation, a recording of what You say is sent to Our servers and transcribed by an AI speech model through OpenRouter, and the text is returned to the App. We do not store the recording.
We may use Personal Data for the following purposes:

We keep Personal Data only for as long as needed for the purposes in this Policy. How long We keep photos is described in "Photos, Faces and AI Editing (Magic Edit)" above. Records of edit jobs, which contain the job's status and an anonymous app user ID but no photo, are deleted after 7 days. We may keep information longer when the law requires it.
Your information is processed by Us and Our Service Providers in the places where they operate, which may be outside Your state, province or country, where data protection laws may differ from those in Your jurisdiction.
You have the right to delete or request that We assist in deleting the Personal Data that We have collected about You.
You can delete any edit in the App, and deleting the App removes all photos and edits stored on Your Device. You may also contact Us at jakemny@gmail.com to request access to, correction of, or deletion of Personal Data held on Our servers.
Please note that We may need to keep certain information when We have a legal obligation to do so.
If We are involved in a merger, acquisition or asset sale, Your Personal Data may be transferred. We will give notice before Your Personal Data is transferred and becomes subject to a different Privacy Policy.
We may be required to disclose Your Personal Data if required to do so by law or in response to valid requests by public authorities (for example, a court or a government agency).
We may disclose Your Personal Data in the good faith belief that such action is necessary to:
Photos and requests are sent over encrypted connections. No method of transmission over the Internet or method of electronic storage is 100% secure, and while We use reasonable means to protect Your Personal Data, We cannot guarantee its absolute security.
The App is not directed to anyone under the age of 13, and We do not knowingly collect Personal Data from anyone under 13. If You are a parent or guardian and You believe Your child has provided Us with Personal Data, please contact Us and We will delete it.
The App may contain links to websites that are not operated by Us. We have no control over and assume no responsibility for the content, privacy policies or practices of any third party sites or services.
We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. We will post the new Privacy Policy on this page and update the "Last updated" date at the top. Changes are effective when they are posted on this page.
